Reactive Load

$(USD)162.00

The Reactive load offers 120 watts of pure silence: Ideal for use with one of our specialist DI recording solutions, for recording if your amp has a built-in line out, or for bedding in new valves and running tests. This unit is fully reactive and utilises a multi-tap inductance coil to ensure your recordings capture the natural sound of your tubes and transformer interacting just as they would with a real speaker.

We only manufacture these in very small batches or to order. If you see ‘available on backorder’ we will order in any necessary parts the same day we receive your order and it will take 3 to 5 days to manufacture your unit.

Reactive Load
$(USD)162.00

The Reactive load is entirely unique and designed from the ground-up by Audiostorm. It allows you to tune the interactive feel and tone of your amp as it works and it responds electrically just like a real speaker.

The Inductance switch allows you to adjust how many windings your speaker has.

  • High for more windings and more inductance, just like a high powered speaker.
  • Low for less inductance and less windings just like a low powered speaker.

The Damping switch lets you select between

  • Highly damped, similar to a heavy cone speaker with stiff surround.
  • Low damping, similar to a lighter speaker with softer surround.

Although you can only subtly hear the tonal differences with these options the big difference is in feel and how they make your amp come alive during silent recordings. This system emulates the real, varying impedance load of a loudspeaker, just as you are familiar with using. We believe that emulating that natural interactivity is what allows you to lose yourself in the groove of playing and outperform your own expectations, and we do not believe in dramatically messing with your carefully hones tone.

Note 1: You need a separate recording solution to use this unit. This can be an existing line-out on your amp, or it can be our Direct Recording Box. The Reactive Load provides only the load.

Note 2: You do not need to match your speaker ohms because this unit is used instead of them, just make sure your amp has the correct ohms output and plug into that.

    Ideal tool for the job!
I use mine, which is 8 ohms, to either run an 8 ohm cab with a 4 ohm only amp without a second cabinet or running my 8 ohm amp on a silent stage and use the recording out.
I’ll definitely buy a second and maybe third for cranking big amps silently
