Our world-leading Handy Cat design converts DB25 (Tascam pinout) to dual ethernet audio (AES72-4E) or vice versa. Use of CAT 5e/6e/7/8 STP ethernet instead of traditional multicore lets you use smaller diameter, cheaper cable for your studio build whilst retaining all the benefits of a balanced, shielded install because modern ethernet is manufacture to a very high and precise standard.
The Handy Cat uses traditional #4-40 thumbscrews that suit most converters, custom fibreglass PCBs, shielded RJ45 sockets and our own custom designed 3D printed enclosures. Everything is assembled in house using premium fracture-resistant cobalt solder for extra long life and high reliability.
Our units follow industry standard wiring practices. We recommend use of STP (shielded) ethernet cable, which is required for phantom power to be sent over the wires. UTP (unshielded) may be used for non-phantom powered installations. All cat cables are supported, 5, 5e, 6, 6A, 7. and more.
We include a detailed, full pin-out connection sheet for the units and cables with every purchase so you have the necessary reference to make your own cables or alter or modify the units at your own discretion, because we know that longevity is important. These are also fully backed with our in-house warranty should anything go wrong.
