The MXP-1 is a standard expression pedal that has been modified to support the MDK standard. The MDK standard adds a on/off toe switch which is normally used as a bypass function with most effects.
It is backwards compatible with all TRS expression systems, and when used as a regular expression pedal the toe switch simply has no function.
The sweep range adjuster on the side reduces the high-end of the range by up to 50%. This allows you to dial in smoother control over a smaller sweep range and is very useful in setting up the expression pedal so that toe-maximum is a sweet-spot rather than being extreme.
The MXP-1 also offers a normal / reverse direction switch on the underside so you can change the direction of sweep travel. The trailing cable has been removed and replaced with a TRS socket so you can use custom cable lengths and also to make the unit longer lasting.
A 60cm moulded patch cable with right angle jacks is included. This is supplied in a random colour. You may request a colour* but since we buy these cables bulk I do not guarantee you will get the colour you want. Depends on what is in stock. Sorry! (*Black, White, Red, Green, Blue or Yellow).
I can also make you up a high quality custom cable with metal TRS pancake jacks if you prefer. This typically costs £15 to £20. Message me.
DIYers Note: The MDK standard is entirely open-source and DIY builds are welcomed and encouraged, so yes you can make this yourself and save some money. Also yes this is based upon a commonly available expression pedal chassis that is quite cheap. The costs charged here are not just for the parts however, but include all the overheads of running and heating a workshop, of paying taxes, of the cost of every detail from reels of solder to wear’n’tear on drill bits to replacing the tips on my 3D printer from time-to-time, and of course a small amount as wage for myself. So please be kind, because making products and running a small business often costs more than it might at first appear.
